Wildlife Educator 

Are you passionate about educating students about wildlife conservation?  Do you love learning new information about animals and our natural world?  If so, you may be a great fit for our team!  We are seeking a motivated, organized and enthusiastic individual to join our wildlife education team.  

Our Wildlife Educator team visits schools, libraries and summer camps educating our youth about wildlife conservation.  You will bring your passion and knowledge of wildlife directly to the youth throughout Omaha and surrounding communities. This paid internship can be applied for class credit with approval from your college or professor. Pay range is $12-$15 an hour depending on experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the care of each animal ambassador.

  • Be very organized and have excellent time management skills.

  • Represents Wildlife Encounters in a positive manner by maintaining a positive attitude and delivering exceptional customer service.

  • Follow all safety guidelines and demonstrate ability to make good common sense decisions regarding the welfare of animals and all human participants.

  • Be energetic and have a positive attitude to create an excellent experience for the audience.

  • Public speaking skills - must feel comfortable speaking to small and large audiences sizes.

  • Must be willing to learn how to work with a variety of animal species including but not limited to alligators, kangaroos, armadillos, snakes, etc.  

  • Must work well with children.  

Required Qualifications:

  • 18 years of age or older.

  • Some weekend work may occur.  

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

  • Great driving record.

  • Must be on your feet most of the time and loading/unloading from a vehicle.

  • Feel comfortable with speaking to a small to large sized audience.

  • Very patient and understanding - you will be working with children so this is a must.
